Managing Your Members

This page describes the features available to manage your forum members.

As the owner of a forum, it's your job to help build a community, and keep it going on the right track.

Your control panel contains the following user management features.

  • Mail Your Users: You can mail all the registered members of your forum. This can be a great tool for keeping everybody involved.

As example, you can send a mailing once or twice a month to point members to interesting threads unfolding on your forum.

  • Show Member Posts: Your control panel can help you focus on a particular member, by showing you their last 200 posts.

  • Signatures: You can give members the ability to add a signature to the bottom of their posts on a case by case basis. This allows you to reward specific members who are contributing the kind of content you wish to encourage on your forum.

  • IP Addresses: Your control panel will show you the IP Address of each of your forum members. If you click on the IP Address you are taken to a third party site that shows you the geographic location of that member.

  • Suspend/Restore: Some times members might get a bit too um, engaged, in their discussions on your forum. If you need to cool a member off with a time out, you can suspend their account. Suspending an account temporarily prevents the member from posting. Once the member has had a chance to take a break and calm down, you can restore their account.

  • Delete Accounts: If a member is no longer welcome on your forum, you can delete their account. You have options as to how this deletion is done. You can delete their account and all their posts (comes in handy for spammers) or delete their account and leave their posts on the forum.

  • Ban A Member: In a worst case scenario, you may wish to prevent someone from even reading your forum. In this case you can use the ban feature. A banned member will see nothing on your forum except a brief message explaining they have been banned.
